4 Ways to Measure Plus a Common Bevel Angle
The center cut-out shines brightest when setting blade and bit heights and router table fence positions. Heights are so simple…just straddle the cutter, raise it up until the block moves, then lower it back down until it settles back on the table. Lay the block flat on your router table with the cut-out around your bit to set up perfectly dimensioned rabbets.
The stepped shoulder comes in handy for table saw fence position and drill press depth setting. Anywhere you need the space between a cutting tool and a reference surface you've got it right there. And since the entire block is machined to the same thickness, there's no "wrong" way to use the stepped shoulder. Not true of similar sets where all the blocks are the same thickness.
The thickness of the entire block is perfect to gauge work coming out of your thickness planer and test the width of grooves and dadoes.
You'll use the "camel's hump" upside down, most of the time. Drop it in dadoes and grooves to check the depth. Notice this feature (and all the others) has relief cuts in the corners, rather than a radius that would severely restrict the use of the tool.
Each block also includes a bevel angle, ideal for setting your table saw blade or miter saw. The set includes angles of 90°, 85°, 80°, 70°, 60°, 45° and 30°. Just match the baseline to your table or fence and the angle to your blade.
The blocks are precision-milled on state-of-the-art CNC machining centers and anodized for surface protection and reduced friction. The wall-mountable Rack-It has a tough, powder-coat finish that protects itself and your 3D Setup Blocks while keeping them right in plain sight and ready for work.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the 3D Setup Blocks are precisely machined and carefully inspected right here in our Strongsville, Ohio, facility just south of Cleveland.
